Ok color me crazy, but this Mass Effect Legendary Edition seems like anything but legendary.
First the original mass effect games got packaged together in a trilogy release. plus IDK but I find the marketing material to be underwhelming and not to dissimilar from the original.
This kinda seems strange because first they made some obvious things. First the updated Shepard has a helmet on, while the old one doesn't. I think this is to make people focus on how bad the hair used to look, and to not show how bad it probably still looks. Also it seems that some of this is trying to emulate ME3 with the updated UI. Which is also a red flag since in my opinion the ME3 heads up display was a bit simplistic. I much more preferred the older heads up display in mass effect 1. Also I think that in the marketing material they emphasize how the locations look to distract away from the character models as well.
For the most part the graphics seem to have improved somewhat but not a whole lot. Also I hope ME 1 isn't the only game that gets a facelift because the other two will also be pretty dated when this is released.
They should have also fixed the models in ME3. it looked like everyone in that game was perpetually drunk or something while how much red was on peoples cheeks. it is especially noticeable on character like James Vega. They could also fix the black tare that is peoples blood in ME 2 and ME 3. that could be done as well.
If you want to see a example of what I classify as a good remake for a game look at Halo CEA and Halo 2 anniversary. Some may say that's unfair since halo 2 is much older so it is much more noticeable. But I don't, Mass Effect 1 was released only 3 years after Halo 2. This closeness helps in the comparison, as they are almost just as old and Bioware has had many years since Andromeda to work on this.
Hopefully this game will make me eat my words, as I will review it and see how it holds up. May even post my playthrough on BitChute.
